So I decided I needed to get rid of the name that's been doing my head in almost as long as I've used it, "Shinpiss". I thought it served me fine as just a browser of art (it didn't) but when I started uploading art and trying to be more professional I felt it really held me back. I don't know how anybody was supposed to take me seriously at all with a name like "Shinpiss"! I was a bit strapped for cash and heard about a competition Fighting-Games-Elite were holding, from it's owner, where the prizes were different amounts of Premium membership. It all about Samurai Showdown, the SNK fighting game revolving around sword wielding combatants. I remembered playing this game a lot on the Sega Megadrive and watching other kids play it in arcades and fell in love with it's style immediately so when the opportunity was presented I grabbed it with both hands.
I slaved over my submission and went through many traditional and digital roughs and the final product took me something like 28 hours. When I was finished I submitted it and wait eagerly to find out the results. Last thing I heard the winners had a firm foothold and it was pretty much decided but unfortunately I didn't place anywhere.
I'll be honest, it was a blow to the ego but then I remembered why I entered in the first place. So I was considering getting myself Premium and deciding if I could afford it (though I discovered it was reasonably priced) when I received a text from a friend ()telling me they gifted it to me. Great news! I don't know if it was some extreme act of soundness or pity but I'm grateful either way!
So I finally changed my name.
I am, as I always have been, "Wayne Alright" and I have my good friend to thank for that.
Cheers man.
